This bloom is a pioneer plant known for its fiery nature due to its tendency to be one of the first plants to take root alongside the fireweed after a burn. They thrive in the conifer forest with the dense pine needle floor and rocky faces. They are up to the challenge of reclaiming the forest after a fire. It was originally thought these flowers were fire germinated but further research discovered they are pollinated by fire ants, creating an interesting symbiosis.
